Committed to Sustainability

Our focus on driving positive environment, social and governance impacts

At PPG, we take a holistic approach to sustainability based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our commitment to sustainability falls across three areas of impact – business, planet and communities. We endeavour to create a more sustainable business by bettering our workplace, supply chain and governance. We strive to reduce our impact on the planet by improving our operations, products and value chain collaborations. We wish to engage the communities in which we operate by increasing our community investment, participation and education.

Meeting the 2025 National Packaging Targets

PPG has been a member of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) since 2012. As a member of APCO, we continually strive to improve our performance to meet the 2025 National Packaging Targets. We also actively support our customers to meet their packaging goals by:

  • Optimising the material efficiency of their packaging
  • Improving the packaging’s recyclability
  • Introducing recycled content into packaging formats
  • Exploring plastic-alternative packaging materials such as paper and biopolymers
  • Analysing and providing relevant labelling for consumer packaging products

PPG’s Integrated Recycling business is leader in the circular economy, taking hard-to-recycle plastic packaging and recycling it into high quality landscaping and construction products.

Reducing Our Greenhouse Gas Emissions

We are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to global ambitions to warming to 1.5 degrees. In 2021, we measured our baseline and developed a strategic roadmap to improve our data confidence, understand our areas of opportunity and reduce our emissions. We have also committed to setting a reduction and net zero science-based target by 2025.
